MU Terminal has been a springboard for many outstanding choreographers and dancers who are now actively involved in professional life, and has laid the foundation for their artistic successes. Our artistic concept has been characterized by conscious and consistent planning for more than 13 years now. While maintaining our original professional objectives, we regularly apply new, experimental, innovative concepts. The children and youth age group plays a major role in selecting our receptive target group, for which we have built our own children's and youth dance theater structure over the past five years. The innovative and effective application of all-art elements plays a significant role in creating our adult performances. In our productions, we combine the possibilities offered by prose theater, contemporary dance, fine arts, and live music.
In our work, we place great emphasis on the acquisition and practice of appropriate dance technique, which is essential for further professional development. In our workshop, it is possible to build and practice contemporary dance technique from the ground up, which is provided by thorough, well-structured training. The training's movement sequences include all those combinations, knowing which the dancer will not be surprised later in his career, and with a thorough knowledge of his own body and technique, he can meet all professional challenges. Daily practice promotes the instinctive use of the right solutions, and also provides continuous building of body awareness and condition and stamina. One of the most important characteristics of the training is: Thoroughness. Daily polishing of mistakes, persistent, steadfast, thorough work can help you get ahead, make up for the shortcomings of the students, and forge strength from their weaknesses. Our workshop provides the opportunity for all this, because it has the Place and the Time. The Terminal is like a small island where you can retreat to, free from competition and rivalry, where young people can establish themselves and their future. The well-equipped, spacious and bright dance hall, Ádám Fejes’ professional preparation and the hours spent in deep work are the foundation for the success of the training.
Although there is a great emphasis on technique, it only provides a basis for artistic realization, which is also possible to practice. The young people of the company can participate in the creation and staging of 3 productions per year. In order to develop a contemporary formal language for expressing artistic content, the past seasons have not only been about pure dance; new forms, experimentation with elements of physical theater, prose-movement-spectacle, fine arts and live music define the new image of the company. In the spirit of professional activity and cooperation, in addition to the director-choreographer work of Ádám Fejes and Adrienn Hoffmann, our young people regularly work with guest artists, so by involving already recognized, experienced artists in the field, we have managed to create exciting productions that are built on the meeting of young, novice, and older and more experienced generations. In line with this professional idea, we now regularly work with director-choreographer Krisztián Gergye, composer Dr. Péter Zombola, actor Bea Melkvi, Viktor Bori and János Kardos, actors of the KÁVA Company. This type of work process provides greater opportunity for experience for young people, as they can observe up close and first-hand how and through what mechanisms their more experienced performing artist colleagues solve stage and performance tasks. We are convinced that such projects greatly help in gaining experience and also result in the creation of exciting performances.
